In general core analysis is divided into two main categories: Conventional Core Analysis (CCAL) and Special Core Analysis (SCAL), based on the detailed level of information taken form core samples in the laboratory. Reservoir rock properties (i.e, CCAL and/or SCAL) are used in reservoir engineering and simulation analysis to describe multi-phase flow in the reservoir. Core analysis software packages help to analyze and generate sets of relative permeability (RELPERM) and capillary pressure tables for miscible and immiscible field processes.
